5 Steps to Boost Your Coffee Offering

5 Steps to Boost Your Coffee Offering

There are many factors that will influence a great-tasting cup of coffee, from coffee beans and equipment to your baristas and customers. Here are 5 steps to help you boost your coffee offering:

1) Equipment Quality

Producing good quality coffee isn’t just down to the beans, but also the equipment you use. Investing in quality equipment is just as important as sourcing and training and will need to be regularly maintained to ensure it continues to produce good quality espresso.

2) Freshly Ground Beans

For a great-tasting cup of coffee it’s important to use freshly ground coffee beans, preferably just before you brew. The reason behind this is due to the fact coffee beans begin to lose aroma and flavour as soon as they are ground. Your daily coffee drinker is most likely to notice less fresh coffee rather than an uneven extraction.

3) Barista Skill

You can have amazing coffee beans and top of the range equipment but all of this will be useless without a skilled barista. Investing in your baristas through quality staff training will help to ensure consistency through every cup of coffee made within your establishment.

4) Know Your Customer

Understanding your customers and their drinking preferences will help to tailor your choice of bean to their choice of beverage. Some customers may prefer strong and rich espressos whilst others prefer creamy and milky lattes. Knowing your customer will aid you in the process of selecting the right beans to satisfy their flavour requirements.

5) Simplify Your Offering

Serving fewer blends rather than a hundred can help to cut costs and allow for staff to focus on perfecting the quality of espresso. Knowing which blends are most popular amongst your customers will help to shorten your offering and allow for bigger volume purchases, saving you money in the long-run.
